Customer FAQs

National Filter Service

How does National Filter Service invoice for HVAC filter replacement?

National Filter Service (NFS) invoices electronically, weekly, monthly, or per-prox, depending on the client’s accounting system. Invoices are generated only for those locations and HVAC units serviced since the last billing period.
All standard forms of payment are accepted.

How do I know when my HVAC filters have been serviced?

Every HVAC unit serviced by NFS contains a barcode tag placed inside the unit. During service, technicians scan each barcode using NFS’ proprietary Service Tracker system.
Each scan records an unforgeable electronic signature from inside your HVAC unit.

What type of HVAC filters does NFS use?

NFS installs a custom-measured galvanized metal frame and pad system that precisely matches the OEM frame inside your HVAC unit.
This design replaces the disposable cardboard OEM filter, which often warps and fails, creating performance loss and unnecessary landfill waste.
All NFS filters use MERV 8-rated filter media, the recognized standard for commercial HVAC systems balancing air quality and airflow efficiency.

Why doesn’t NFS use pleated filters?

Pleated filters and NFS filters both meet the MERV 8 efficiency rating, the key performance benchmark in the HVAC filter industry.
Pleated filters increase cost without improving air quality or efficiency. NFS’ metal frame and pad system delivers equal filtration, reduces landfill impact, and saves clients’ money.

How long has National Filter Service been providing commercial HVAC maintenance?

NFS serviced its first location in 1992 and has provided uninterrupted national HVAC filter maintenance for more than 30 years.

Is NFS compliant and insured?

Yes. All NFS field contractors are fully insured with up-to-date general liability and workers’ compensation coverage. Certificates of insurance are verified and maintained annually.

Does National Filter Service manage multi-location facilities?

Yes. NFS specializes in multi-site commercial HVAC maintenance including grocery, retail, restaurant, and convenience store chains.
All scheduling, communication, and service tracking are managed through a single national operations center.

Can I access my service records and reports?

Yes. NFS provides detailed audit reports showing service date which are displayed on your account dashboard.

Who owns National Filter Service?

NFS is privately owned by the founder Chris Fairchild. Zero private equity involvement.
